Best Texas Hard Rock/Metal Vocalist Award

Nominated for Best Texas Tribute from
MTV3 International and Maxima Distorzhun Music Awards

"If you haven't seen Alyson Chayns, then you've been missing out... their tribute to Alice in Chains really 'kicks ass.' They put on a fine job of channeling up the spirit of Layne Staley and really play the hell out of the music. They have so much conviction, you'd have thought that they had written all those hit songs. They did a fine job, indeed. You need to see these guys."   Music News

Alyson Chayns is an Alice in Chains tribute band based out of Houston, Texas. The band has been active since late June 2010, when the project played its debut show.

Alice in Chains was born at a party in 1987, Seattle, WA. The name was supposedly spawed from a crazy idea about the group dressing in drag and playing. The monumental date of their first gig was on August 5, 1987.

The unforturnate death of Lead Singer Layne Staley, (1967-2002) means you can't see the band anymore. That's where Alyson Chayns pays tribute to this band.

Alyson Chayns display a depth of talent and bring extensive musical experience, drawing members from various local cover and original bands - such as Swinging Teresa and Rowe – in order to play songs originally written and performed by AIC, as a tribute, by fans of one of America’s greatest rock bands. Performing at venues all over the city and out into central and east Texas during its brief existence, the band has continued to win over fans at every turn, as well as gaining respect (and return bookings) from many of the other top name tribute acts in the area.

Alyson Chayns mixes an effortless visual performance which calls to mind the classic lineup of AIC, along with playing the actual music with force and integrity to the original recordings. As a leader of the upcoming “grunge” movement of the 90’s, Alice In Chains influenced all the members of Alyson Chayns in unique ways. Lead Vocalist Mike Tillery is a natural “as” Layne Staley, having an uncanny physical resemblance while also effortlessly summoning forth the spirit and sound of the famously and fatally troubled front man of AIC… the work of recreating his songwriting partner Jerry Cantrell’s complex guitar parts are recreated by Ben Rowe and Rob Sherrill, two of Houston’s most formidable and experienced musicians.

Together, they recreate the many textures and layers of melody that became a trademark of the mature AIC sound, as that band developed into the legendary juggernaut that they have now become. Drummer Michael Andrews and bassist Dave Coronado have proved to be the powerful rhythm section, and complete the lineup. Both of them, along with Ben Rowe, also contribute backing vocal duties … this ability to bring four part vocal harmonies into the mix completes the full affect, as Alyson Chayns recreates the AIC experience live and in person.

In addition they have added the creative effects of Scott Bulkley on violin to accent the harmonies and add a flare to the overall sound of the music which no other AIC tribute band has done to date. The ethereal sounds from the violin make the sound complete.
